frequently asked questions

how is the text encrypted?

your password is stretched with PBKDF2 (250,000 rounds of SHA-256) and a random salt, then AES-256-GCM encrypts the text with a random IV.

can you recover a lost password?

no. nothing is stored anywhere, so a lost password means the text cannot be decrypted.

is anything sent to a server?

no. encryption uses the Web Crypto API in your browser.
