how to mp4 to gif under 5mb
- drop your mp4 file onto the box above.
- set the start and end, and loop the preview to check it.
- pick fit a file size and a limit, or choose fps and width.
- press make gif and download the result.
5 mb is enough for about 3 to 4 seconds at 480 px and 12 fps on typical footage, and more for screen recordings. the tool begins with a guess, makes the gif, measures it and corrects, so you rarely need to tune anything by hand.
if the result is blurry or choppy, the clip is probably too long for the cap. trim it with the sliders rather than lowering quality further. a shorter loop at good quality looks better than a long one at 6 fps.

frequently asked questions
is 5 mb exactly the limit?
we measure in mebibytes (1,048,576 bytes) and keep a small margin, so the result is a little under 5 mb on any site that counts megabytes either way.
what if it cannot reach 5 mb?
you get the smallest version we made, with a message. trim the clip shorter or reduce the maximum width and try again.
can i choose a different size?
yes, type any number in the target box, or tap one of the shortcut buttons.
