how to pomodoro timer
- set your focus and break lengths, or start from a preset page such as 25 and 5, or 50 and 10.
- add the task you are working on and mark it as active.
- press start (or space), and pick an ambient sound if you want one.
- work until the timer ends, take the break, and repeat. a long break comes after your chosen number of rounds.
- check the chart to see how many sessions you finished per day.
the classic pomodoro is 25 minutes of focus and 5 minutes of rest, with a longer break after four rounds. the short blocks are meant to make starting easier and to force regular breaks. if 25 minutes keeps breaking your flow, longer blocks such as 50 and 10 suit deep work better.
linking sessions to tasks gives you a rough estimate of effort. after a week you will know whether "write report" is 3 sessions or 8, and can plan accordingly. keep tasks small enough to finish in one to four sessions, and write down distractions instead of acting on them.
steady noise helps some people block out conversations, and others find any sound distracting. brown noise is the deepest, white is brightest, and the rain-like option sits in between. all of it is generated on your device, so it works offline once the page is loaded. data is kept in your browser storage and is lost if you clear it.

frequently asked questions
what is the pomodoro technique?
you work in focused blocks, traditionally 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. after four rounds you take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
can i change the lengths?
yes. set focus, short break, long break and the number of rounds before a long break. your settings and daily stats are remembered on this device.
will it alert me in another tab?
a sound plays when a session ends and the tab title shows the time left. you can also enable desktop notifications with one click. nothing leaves your browser.
how do tasks and sessions work together?
add tasks to the list and mark one as active. every focus session you finish is counted against it, so you can see how many sessions a task really took. the list and counts are saved only in this browser.
what do the ambient sounds do?
you can play white noise, brown noise or a rain-like noise generated in your browser with the web audio api. there are no audio files and no streaming. tick the option to play only while a focus session is running if you want silence during breaks.
how does the stats chart count sessions?
a session counts only when a focus timer runs all the way to zero. skipping a session does not add to the total. the bar chart shows sessions per day for the last 7, 14 or 30 days and is stored on this device.
