how to extract text from a screenshot
- choose the language of the text.
- drop a photo, screenshot or scanned pdf on the box.
- wait while the engine loads and reads the text.
- edit anything that needs fixing, then copy it or download a txt file.
screenshots are the ideal input for ocr because the text is sharp, straight and high contrast. take it at full resolution rather than a photo of the screen, which adds blur and moire patterns. dark mode and colored backgrounds are usually fine.
for chats and tables, the layout may be flattened into lines, so check the order of the text. to read a long page, take several screenshots and drop them all in at once, and each file's text is added in order with a header.

frequently asked questions
why can't i select the text in a screenshot?
a screenshot is a picture of the text, not text itself. ocr recognizes the letters in the picture and turns them back into characters.
can i read several screenshots at once?
yes. drop them all together and the text from each is combined, labeled with the file name.
is it safe for screenshots with private information?
yes. the image is read in your browser and never uploaded. only the engine and language data are downloaded.
