how to qr code for business cards

  1. choose what the code holds: url, text, wifi, email, phone or a contact card, then fill in the details.
  2. pick colors, and optionally add a logo or switch on the frame with a caption such as "scan me".
  3. check the preview and scan it with your phone before you print.
  4. download as png for screens, or svg or pdf for print. use the bulk box for a whole list.

a contact code holds your details inside the pattern, so more fields mean a denser code. keep it to name, company, title, one phone, one email and your website. on a card the code needs to be at least 2 cm wide, so drop optional fields rather than shrink the code.

a vcard is a snapshot: if your number changes, the printed code will not update. if you want a card that never goes stale, make a url code that points to an online profile page instead, and update that page when your details change.

frequently asked questions

do phones save the contact automatically?

phones show the contact details after a scan and offer an add contact button. the user confirms before anything is saved.

what size should the code be on the card?

at least 2 x 2 cm, ideally 2.5 cm, with a blank margin around it. print it in black on white and use the svg or pdf file so the edges stay sharp.

can i add a photo or address?

not here. photos make the code far too dense to scan. add only the essential fields and link a website for the rest.
