how to wifi qr code generator

  1. choose what the code holds: url, text, wifi, email, phone or a contact card, then fill in the details.
  2. pick colors, and optionally add a logo or switch on the frame with a caption such as "scan me".
  3. check the preview and scan it with your phone before you print.
  4. download as png for screens, or svg or pdf for print. use the bulk box for a whole list.

iphones (ios 11 and later) and most android phones read wifi codes straight from the camera app and offer a join button. choose wpa for nearly every modern router; wep is only for very old equipment, and "none" is for open networks. tick hidden network only if your router does not broadcast its name.

the password is written into the code as plain text, so anyone who can scan the printed code can join. put it where guests are, such as a guest room or cafe counter, and not on a public window. if you change the router password, make a new code and replace the old one.

frequently asked questions

will it work on iphone and android?

yes. the standard wifi format is read by the built-in camera on ios 11 and up and on android 10 and up. on older android versions, use a scanner app.

does the code need internet to work?

no. the details are inside the code and the phone reads them locally. the phone only needs to be in range of the router.

what do i do if the password has special characters?

type it exactly as set on the router. characters like semicolon, colon, comma and quotes are escaped automatically so the code still reads correctly.
