how to compress image to 50kb
- drop one or many jpg, png or webp images on the box above.
- choose target file size (type a size in kb) or choose quality and drag the slider.
- optionally set a max width and an output format, then check the size shown next to each file.
- drag the before and after slider to check the look, then download one file or the whole zip.
50 kb is tight for a photo but easy for a signature or a scanned stamp. a passport-style face photo at about 400 × 500 pixels fits comfortably. a large camera photo has to be scaled down a lot, so crop it to the face first with crop image, because cropping removes pixels without costing any quality.
this preset outputs jpg because it is smaller than png for photos and accepted everywhere. a signature on a white page can also be saved as grayscale beforehand to make it smaller still. if the text looks soft, increase the target to 60 or 70 kb if the form allows it.

frequently asked questions
can a full phone photo be compressed to 50 kb?
yes, but it will be scaled down to roughly 600 pixels wide, because a 12 megapixel photo cannot hold its detail in 50 kb. that is fine for id uploads. if you need it larger, ask whether 100 kb is allowed instead.
does it keep my signature readable?
usually yes. signatures are simple shapes on a white background, so even a small file stays crisp. check the zoomed result with the slider, and raise the limit slightly if the strokes break up.
what size in pixels will the output be?
it keeps your dimensions unless the file cannot fit at the lowest quality, then it reduces them in steps of about 15 percent. the note under the file tells you the final quality and scale.
