how to sign pdf

this tool places an image of your signature on the page, like signing a printout and scanning it. it works for contracts between people who trust each other, permission slips, rental forms and most internal approvals. it does not create a cryptographic digital signature, so for documents that require a qualified e-signature use a dedicated signing service.
for a clean result, draw slowly with the largest pad you can, use a dark blue or black ink, and keep the stamp small enough to sit on the signature line. initials usually fit at about 10 percent of the page width, and a date at 15 to 20 percent. the preview shows the stamp exactly where it will appear.
once signed, text in the document cannot be edited with this tool. if the document should not be altered afterwards, run flatten pdf on the signed file, and keep the original unsigned copy.

it adds an image of your signature, which is fine for many everyday documents. it is not a certificate-based digital signature, so use a dedicated service when the law requires one.
can i sign several pages?

is my document uploaded?
no. signing happens in your browser. neither the pdf nor your signature is sent anywhere.
where is my saved signature stored?
in your browser local storage on this device, as a small image. it is never sent anywhere and nobody else can see it. delete it with the cross next to it, or by clearing site data. private windows do not keep it.
can i add the date next to my signature?
yes. choose date, pick a format such as 2026-10-29 or 29 oct 2026 or type your own text, then place it beside the signature and add it. dates, initials and signatures can be combined on the same page.
why does it say a page is rotated?
pages that carry a rotation setting cannot be stamped reliably, because the coordinates turn with the page. fix the page with rotate pdf first, then sign the corrected file.
