how to split a pdf in half

splitting in half halves the number of pages, but not always the file size, because the pages are not equally heavy. if the file is too big for an upload limit, check the sizes of the two parts and split again, or compress the heavy half.
for a 9-page file you get pages 1-5 and 6-9. the two parts download together in a zip. need a different cut point, like after page 3? switch to pick pages and type 1-3, 4-9.
